Getting to Orkney can be easier and quicker than you may think.

Kirkwall airport, just outside the capital city, is open 7 days a week, and direct flights operate from Aberdeen (50 mins), Inverness (45 mins), Edinburgh and Glasgow(both 1hr 20 mins) with Loganair. Connections are available from other airports in the UK, Europe and around the world.*

Northlink Ferries sailings

Aberdeen to Kirkwall

  • Journey time 6 hours
  • Frequency 2 – 4 times weekly, depending on season

Scrabster to Stromness

  • Journey time 90 minutes
  • Frequency 2 – 3 times daily, depending on season

On both these routes, you can either travel with your own car or as a foot passenger if you have travelled to the departure port with another method of transport.

Loganair operates flights between Kirkwall airport and the islands of Stronsay, Sanday, Westray, Papa Westray, North Ronaldsay and Eday.
